TURKSOY awards winners of art and essay competititions among schoolchildren [PHOTOS]
A drawing competition has been held among schoolchildren from countries that are TURKSOY members, Azernews reports. The art competition aimed at promoting the common values and cultural heritage of the Turkic world to the younger generation.
The award ceremony took place at the Vaqif Mustafazadeh No. 2 Children's Art School. The guests first familiarized themselves with the works of the young artists on display.
In his speech at the event, TURKSOY Secretary-General Sultan Raev emphasized the special attention given to the youth, who will be the architects of the Turkic world’s future. He stated that the projects implemented in this direction aim to increase young people's interest in national values and art.
Sultan Raev also announced that the city of Anev in Turkmenistan had been declared the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" for 2024, with special events planned to mark the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy. He noted that the art competition, which involved students from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Turkiye, is significant in terms of revealing the creative potential of youth and transmitting national values to future generations.
The TURKSOY Secretary-General pointed out that the drawing competition under the theme “The Turkic World and Turkmenistan through the Eyes of Young Artists,” which reflects the life of the prominent Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy, not only raises young people's interest in cultural heritage but also serves as an important step towards the unity of the Turkic world.
Head of the Baku City Culture DepartmentI brahim Aliyev said that TURKSOY has been holding competitions related to young artists for the second consecutive year. He remarked that this year’s event is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and poet Magtymguly Pyragy of the East.
Ibrahim Aliyev emphasized that the event makes a significant contribution to the education of the younger generation in a national spirit, allowing them to better internalize our national values. He highlighted the importance of such events in strengthening the unity of Turkic states and preserving our national heritage.
Following this, a concert program was presented featuring student performances.
Later, there was an award ceremony for the winners of the drawing and essay competitions held among schoolchildren from TURKSOY member countries. The winners were awarded special diplomas and valuable gifts.
In their concluding remarks, the speakers praised the high level of organization of the competition and the achievements demonstrated by the youth in the creative field. They stated that such events are important initiatives that not only increase young people's commitment to our national-cultural values but also serve the unity of the Turkic world.
Participants and winners of the competition expressed that taking part in such events dedicated to the common values of the Turkic world provides them with significant motivation and a sense of pride.
The International Organization of Turkic Culture, TURKSOY, was established in 1993 upon signature of its founding agreement by the Ministers of Culture of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkiye
Over the past years, TURKSOY has made significant contributions to promoting Turkic cultural heritage through different initiatives. Most of these projects have become a tradition and are continued every year.
Since its establishment, TURKSOY has been carrying out activities to strengthen the ties of brotherhood and solidarity among Turkic peoples, transmit the common Turkic culture to future generations and introduce it to the world.
The organization actively collaborates with international bodies like UNESCO and maintains partnerships with institutions such as the Organization of Turkic States and the International Turkish Academy.
Azerbaijan actively participates in TURKSOY's initiatives, hosting events like the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World project in Shusha city.
Many events of cultural significance, including the Kharibulbul International Folklore Festival, the Korkut Ata Turkic World Film Festival, the Cultural Days of the Turkic People, the Vagif Poetry Days, the International Festival of Children's Creativity, Wonderland Shusha 2023 International Scout Camp, and other events were organized in Azerbaijan's cultural center in accordance with the Action Plan.
