The process of introducing innovative technologies should be intensified to achieve transparency and efficiency in the agricultural field, Inam Karimov, Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture, said at the UN Public Service Forum held in Baku on June 24-26.

The minister stressed that this process is underway in the country and this issue is set as a priority within the state policy. He added that activity of the ASAN Service which embraces wide range of inclusive services is one the vivid examples.

“At the same time, the country’s most important task is to turn agriculture into a profitable and attractive sector of the economy,” Karimov noted.

Further, the minister said that purposeful work is carried out in this direction and support mechanisms are being implemented to subsidize the country's agriculture in the context of tax exemption. He emphasized the necessity of the youth’s involvement in this sphere.

“This will greatly enhance our capabilities in terms of applying new technologies, as well as building up human resources in the promising future," Karimov pointed out.

Then, the minister noted that it is necessary to keep on carrying out reforms within agricultural segments to achieve an effective model of agricultural production.

The agriculture sector is considered one of the important directions in the country’s development, because this sector plays a special role in the diversification of the economy, providing the population with food, developing regions, reducing poverty, addressing social problems and other issues.

Recent introduction of drones is an example of advanced technologies used within agricultural sector of the country. Drones are needed to conduct surveys in hard-to-reach areas of agricultural land. They can determine how well the irrigation was conducted as well as the condition of the soil and identify weed plants.

At the same time, drones allow to create a cartographic base with the exact coordinates of all objects, to further conduct a visual analysis of objects with a resolution of up to several cm per pixel. This allows calculating the exact area, distance, resource requirements, etc.
