Europe stock-index futures rise amid earnings after weekly drop
By Bloomberg
European stock-index futures advanced, after posting a weekly decline, as investors watched corporate results. U.S. futures were little changed, while Asian shares climbed.
Carlsberg A/S may move after Russia’s biggest brewer said its markets share improved in the country as it reported third- quarter profit in line with estimates. Nutreco NV may be active after a Dutch investment company raised its bid for the animal- feed maker by 11 percent, fending off a rival approach by Cargill Inc.
Futures on the Euro Stoxx 50 Index expiring in December climbed 0.3 percent to 3,066 at 7:10 a.m. in London. Contracts on the U.K.’s FTSE 100 Index added 0.2 percent today. Standard & Poor’s 500 Index futures gained 0.1 percent, while the MSCI Asia Pacific Index rallied 0.8 percent.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index lost 0.5 percent last week as bank stocks retreated, outweighing European Central Bank President Mario Draghi’s reassurance that policy makers are unanimous on boosting monetary stimulus if needed.
Investors are watching corporate earnings this week, with some 68 companies in the Stoxx 600 releasing results.
Carlsberg may move. The Copenhagen-based company’s Russian volume market share improved to 37.9 percent in the third quarter from 36.5 percent in the second quarter. The brewer also said earnings before interest, taxes and one-time items were little changed at 3.39 billion kroner ($570 million) for the three months through September. The average analyst estimate was for 3.36 billion kroner.
Nutreco may be active. SHV Holdings NV raised its bid for the Netherlands-based company to 2.99 billion euros ($3.7 billion). Nutreco agreed to SHV’s sweetened bid of 44.50 euros a share and rejected Cargill’s offer of at least 43.20 euros a share, as the Minneapolis-based company planned to break up the business with private-equity company Permira, Nutreco and SHV said in a joint statement today.
