Three Azerbaijani wrestlers advance to 1/4 finals
Azerbaijan’s representative Sabahi Shariati (130 kg) competed with Ukrainian athlete Mykola Kuchmii in the Greco-Roman wrestling qualifications in 1/8 finals.
Shariati defeated Kuchmii and advanced to 1/4 finals, 8:0.
Thus, aside from Sabahi Shariati, the following Azerbaijani athletes advanced to 1/4 finals on Greco-Roman wrestling: Hasan Aliyev (up to 66 kg) and Elvin Mursaliyev (up to 75 kg).
The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28.
There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
