Armenia continues to shell Azerbaijani positions

Armenian armed forces have 10 times violated the ceasefire on the line of contact of the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops over the past 24 hours, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on July 22.

Armenian army was using large-caliber machine guns.

Armenian armed forces, stationed in the Berkaber village of Armenia’s Ijevan district, on nameless heights and in the Mosesgekh village of the Berd district opened fire at Azerbaijani positions located in the Gizilhajili village of Azerbaijan’s Gazakh district, Munjuglu and Alibayli villages of the Tovuz district.

Azerbaijani troops also underwent fire from the positions located near the Seyidahmadli village of the Fizuli district and on nameless heights of the Goygol and Goranboy districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia for over two decades have been locked in conflict, which emerged over Armenian territorial claims. Since the 1990s war, Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions. The UN Security Council has adopted four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal, but they have not been enforced to this day.
