Synergy Baku cyclist third in Tour de Bretagne

Azerbaijani cyclists continue to compete in the Tour de Bretagne which runs in northern France from April 25 to May 1.
Matej Mugerli from the Synergy Baku Cycling Project once again showed his great form when he finished third on the fifth stage of the tour
He was a part of a late three-man break which finished ahead of
the field.
The stage started out under the rain, wind and cool temperatures.
An early break group got away but was caught after the last climb.
Mugerli was in the next break of three, but he also was caught by
the field.
Mugerli, the Slovenian champion, refused to give up and jumped from
the bunch in the last three kilometers. Alone, he caught the two
riders in front and stayed with them until the end.
“I am happy with my performance today and with a little bit of luck
I could have won again,” Mugerli said. “I am very happy with my
third place, though.”
“It was a very hard, windy, hilly day with a difficult finishing
course. The guys sat back until the finishing circuit, and then
Matej went on the attack,” DS Jeremy Hunt said. “I’m very happy
with the way the guys are going and I hope it carries over into
Azerbaijan.”
Earlier, Matej also won the second stage of the Tour de Bretagne.
Before joining the Synergy Baku Cycling Project for the 2015 season, Matej spent the last three years with the Slovenian Adria Mobil team. His years at Adria Mobil were successful, as he secured ten wins.
