Volunteers to play key role in successive organization of Games
Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Education Minister has met with
heads of higher education institutions of the country to discuss
involvement of student volunteers in the Baku-2015 European
Games.
The minister stressed the importance of the European Games to be
held in Azerbaijan, adding volunteers would play key role in
successive organization of the Games.
Jabbarov underlined the involvement and coordination of student
volunteers to large-scale events play important role in various
countries. “This activity serves to social interests, and students
can develop their skills, earn work experience and get new circle
of friends,” the minister added.
He underlined Azerbaijan, in turn, has tradition of involvement of
the student volunteers to internationally important events held in
the country, adding “we should benefit from this experience during
the European Games”.
The biggest sporting event in Azerbaijan's history, the Baku 2015 European Games will attract more than 6,000 athletes to represent 49 countries in 20 sports.
The Baku 2015 Games will take place in 21 stadia and facilities in Baku and Mingachevir city. The official opening ceremony of the games will take place in the 68,000-seat Baku Olympic Stadium. The Athletes Village will accommodate up to 7,300 people.
