Azerbaijani gymnast wins bronze at World Cup

Azerbaijan's champion Marina Durunda has won a bronze medal at the World Cup in rhythmic gymnastics, held in Minsk on May 30 - June 1.

Performing with a hoop, Durunda scored 17,35 points and gained the third place in the competition, Azerbaijan's Gymnastics Federation said.

Russian Yana Kudryavtseva became the winner in this category, scoring 18,5 points and South Korean Son Yeon-Jae became the second.

Durunda also became the fifth performing with a ball, and the sixth in the performance with maces.

Azerbaijani team composed of Sabina Abbasova, Siyana Vasileva, Aliya Pashayeva, Diana Doman, Alexandra Platonova and Aynur Mustafaeva ranked seventh in the final performance with the ten clubs.

The World Cup was the last major event ahead of the European Championships, which will be held in Baku on June 13-15. The breathtaking event will bring together 258 gymnasts from about 33 countries competing for nine sets of awards in Baku.
