By Nazrin Gadimova
Azerbaijani grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov has become 4th, gaining 18 points at the Blitz Chess events of the Sportaccord World Mind Games 2013 in Beijing.
Russian Sergey Karyakin topped the table, followed by Levon Aronian from Armenia. France's Maxime Vachier-Lagrave became the 3rd.
The Blitz category has a different format, whereby players faced-off two times and only have 3 minutes (+2 seconds added after every move) for an entire game.
One of the strongest rapid and blitz events of the year with the participation of some of the world's top grandmasters and organized and held by a famous and respectable SportAccord organization, the World Mind Games are being held in Beijing on December 12-18.
Sixteen top men and sixteen top women's chess players play in Rapid, Blitz and Basque (play white and black games simultaneously against the same opponent).
The World Mind Games were held for the first time in 2008 and consisted of 5 disciplines: chess, bridge, draughts (checkers), go, and xiangqi (Chinese chess).
