Baku Cup international tennis tournament due late July

Baku Cup international tennis tournament, which is part of the 2013 WTA Tour, will be held in the Azerbaijani capital on July 22-28.

The competition, organized by Baku Tennis Academy, will be joined by such tennis players as Bojana Jovanovski (Serbia), Annika Beck (Germany), Andrea Petkovic (Germany), Donna Vekic (Croatia), Chanelle Scheepers (South Africa), Karin Knapp (Italy), Alexandra Cadantu (Romania) and Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic).

According to the Azerbaijan Tennis Federation, Azerbaijan will be presented by young tennis player Kamilla Farhad.

We recall that the winner of Baku Cup 2012 was Serbia's Bojana Jovanovski.

Baku Cup is an international women's professional tennis tournament being held since 2011 on hard courts of the Baku Tennis Academy, which has a 10,000-seat capacity main stadium. There is also a 3,000-seat central court and 12 additional courts. Baku Cup belongs to the category of international tournaments of the WTA with standard prize pool of $220,000.

The 2013 WTA Tour is the elite professional tennis circuit organized by the Women's Tennis Association for the 2013 tennis season. The 2013 WTA Tour schedule comprises the Grand Slam tournaments, which are supervised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the WTA Premier tournaments, including Premier Mandatory, Premier 5, and regular Premier, the WTA International tournaments, the Fed Cup organized by the ITF, and the year-end championships (the WTA Tour Championships and the WTA Tournament of Champions).
