National swimmer wins medals at World Cup in Eindhoven

Azerbaijani swimmer Maxim Schemberev won one gold and one bronze medal at the World Cup stage in Eindhoven (Netherlands), Secretary General of the Swimming Federation of Azerbaijan Farid Bananyarli said.

Shemberev won the gold medal in the 1,500 m freestyle and bronze medals in the 400 m complex.

Currently, at a distance of 400 meters, Maxim occupies the 10th position in the world ranking, and third in European.

Maxim Shemberev was born on September 25, 1993 in Kiev, Ukraine. He is champion of Europe (400 meters) of the European Championship among juniors in 2010 in Tampere (Finland), Champion of Europe (400 meters) and bronze medalist (200 meters) of the European Junior Championship 2011 in Belgrade (Serbia), Champion (400 meters) and two-time bronze winner (200 meters) of the 2011 World Junior Championships in Lima (Peru). Represented Ukraine at the 2012 Olympics in London on a 400-meter-long, comprehensive voyage.

At the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games Maxim Schemberev in a complex style of 400 meters grabbed the gold medal in the assets of the national team of Azerbaijan.

The best result in his career is the third place in the world ranking.
