The General Assembly of the European Mini Football Federation was held in Budapest on February 23-24.
The chairman of the Azerbaijan Mini Football Association (AMFA) Elkhan Asadov and AMFA Secretary General Azer Huseynov took part in the event, Trend Life reported.
At the meeting, AMFA leadership presented plans for the development of mini football in Azerbaijan. AMFA representatives stressed that this kind of sport is actively supported by commercial partners such as Bakcell and Azfargroup. They also noted that Alpha League- an amateur mini football championship among football fans will be held in Azerbaijan. The championship aims at development of mini football.
The meeting was followed by voting. According to the results of voting, Azerbaijan, Belgium and Switzerland became the members of the European Mini Football Federation. Armenia's membership was terminated due to non-compliance with the requirements of the Federation.
AMFA Secretary General Azer Huseynov shared his impressions about the meeting:
"The meeting is held twice a year. More than 30 countries took part in the event. A number of issues were discussed including the membership of Azerbaijan in European Mini Football Federation. As Azerbaijan Mini Football Association conforms to all required conditions, we become one of the three countries which membership has been admitted," he said.
Huseynov stressed that the Azerbaijan Mini Football Federation intends to expand its activities:
"The European Mini Football Federation also intends to attract women to this sport, as well as business entities. We already hold such kind of tournament-Azfar Business League. The European Mini-Football Federation already wants to develop this sport in certain categories, for example, U-19 and U-21," he said.
After the adoption of the Azerbaijan Mini Football Federation in the European Mini Football Federation, national team will participate in the European Championship in Kiev on August 12-18. Moreover, Alpha League winner will join the championship in Slovenia on September 5-9, 2019 .
The main sponsor of these projects is Bakcell.
Notably, Azfargroup was established in Azerbaijan in 2008. The company specializes in the construction of professional football grounds. The company established football grounds in more than 30 sites.
Azfar Business League (ABL) belongs to Azfargroup. The project is a mini-football tournament among corporate teams.
