The 1st Open Goychay Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics entitled "Garnet Princess" was held in the Goychay Olympic Sports Complex on June 5.
A total of 72 gymnasts participated in the competitions, performing in individual program and nine teams - in group exercises.
Young gymnasts represented the Shagan Olympic sports complex, Zabrat and Zira sports clubs, and Zirva club, as well as Ganja, Ismayilli, Kurdamir and Sumgayi regions of the country.
The winners of the first three places were awarded with medals and diplomas.
Deputy Head of the Goychay Executive Power Adalyat Dovlyatov addressed the opening ceremony and greeted the gymnasts. He wished them successful performance.
Dovlyatov said it is encouraging that today various sports are developing in Goychay, where strong athletes are bringing up.
"We are very pleased that along with others, Goychay develops rhythmic gymnastics section and the country achieves big successes in this discipline,” he said.
Currently about 40 gymnasts aged between 3 and 12 are training in the Goychay Olympic Sport Complex.
