The complex is located at the territory of the Turkmenabat chemical plant. The facility was constructed by the order of the country’s Turkmekhimya state concern. The project was partially financed by a loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

Sulfur which is obtained as a result of the natural gas purification at the domestic fuel and energy enterprises is used as a raw material. The total capacity of the plant is 500,000 tons of sulfuric acid a year.

The products of the new workshop are designed primarily to ensure the production of high quality phosphate fertilisers for Turkmen agriculture. Moreover, some products can be exported

Turkmenistan intends to develop a national chemical industry which is considered to be strategically important for Turkmen national economy. Chemical industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of the national economy which has a huge resource potential.
