Rouhani says if not for nuke deal, Iran wouldn't be able to export even 1 oil barrel

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said that if the nuclear deal had not been achieved, Iran wouldn't be able to export even a barrel of oil at the moment.

Rouhani said that when he came to office in 2013, Iran’s oil exports was decreased to one million barrels per day, and it was planned that it to be forced down to zero gradually, the state-run IRINN TV reported April 4.

The Iranian president further said that if his administration had continued the path of the past Iran’s oil export would have reached zero.

Iran’s oil and condensate export has reached two million barrels per day, Rouhani said, adding, the figure will continue to increase during the current fiscal year (started March 20).

Iran will revive its “share and right” in the energy market, the Iranian president said.

The international sanctions imposed on Iran with regard to its nuclear program have been removed as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA, aka nuclear deal) entered the implementation phase on Jan. 16.

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries (the US, France, the UK, Germany, China, and Russia) in July 2015 agreed a landmark nuclear deal to curb Tehran’s sensitive nuclear activities in return for the lifting of international sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Iran has doubled its oil exports since the nuclear deal came into force last January.

The National Iranian Oil Company’s CEO Roknoddin Javadi said in March that Iran’s oil export has reached 1.8 million barrels per day.

The country’s daily output should reach four million barrels the current Iranian year (started March 20), he said, stressing that Iran will continue to increase the export.
