Cotton harvest launched in Turkmenistan
Cotton harvest started in Turkmenistan’s Ahal, Lebap and Mary provinces, and it is planned to start the harvest in the province of Dashoguz on Sept. 6, said the Turkmen state concern, Turkmenpagta.
This year, the country’s farmers undertake to harvest 1.05 million metric tons of cotton, as they did last year.
Cotton is a weighty part Turkmenistan’s export and is in demand as raw material for tens of modern enterprises dynamically developing in the country’s textile industry.
Ashgabat annually hosts an international trade fair of cotton products of Turkmenistan.
