The U.S. backed Georgia's current political course, appreciating the recent achievements made by the government.

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister has met with Joe Biden, U.S. Vice President during the 51st Security Conference in Munich on February 8.

"I had a very fruitful meeting with the U.S. vice president. It was a very positive meeting,” Garibashvili told journalists following the meeting.

He said talks over the joint cooperation, mutual relations in security and energy issues topped the meeting's agenda.

"The U.S. clearly sees the progress we have achieved in recent years. Of course, problems still remain in Georgia, including economic problems and others. We also spoke about it, we have concrete plans and a vision of how to overcome these problems. We always have hope for support from the U.S,” he added.

The two top diplomats have also focused on the recent situation in the region and discussed the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

"We also spoke about number of scenarios of developments in regard to Georgia and also the threats and challenges facing our country. The vice president himself noted that we are on the right track and we are developing in the right direction, and it needs a consistency,” Garibashvili said.

Earlier, Garibashvili met with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Chairperson of the National Democratic Institute, former United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, State Secretary of China Yang Jiechi and other high-ranking officials during the Security Conference in Munich.
