Kyrgyzstan to buy sugar from Azerbaijan

Kyrgyzstan will purchase 10,000 tons of sugar from Azerbaijan.

The news was announced by Kyrgyzstan's First Deputy Prime Minister Tayirbek Sarpashev.

Addressing journalists on June 5, he said the Kyrgyz government has signed a relevant agreement on sugar purchase with Azerbaijan.

"We have already held talks with the Azerbaijani side on this issue. The sale prices on Kyrgyz market will amount to 45 soms per kilogram, which is 15-20 percent lower than the market prices," Sarpashev said.

He also expressed confident that the sale of sugar at the market will begin in two weeks.

"We know that some companies increase sugar prices to 60-70 soms during summer. But it will not happen anymore", he added.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan was established on January 19, 1993.

Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan are working together to strengthen their partnership in industry, trade, communications, and transportation fields. The two countries also intend to develop cooperation between their justice authorities.

Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on a new air service which envisaged regular passenger and cargo flights between the two countries.
