No document issued for P5+1 negotiation with Iran in Geneva
The P5+1 international mediation on Iranian's nuclear program
didn't work out a single prospect for settlement of the problem at
the Geneva negotiations held on November 7- 8, RIA Novosti
reported, citing Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Lavrov said the U.S. proposal for resolving the issue was
considered at the meeting.
"This time the P5+1 didn't work out a joint document. There was a
U.S proposal to which Iran agreed. We actively supported this U.S.
project as did a number of other P5+1 members," he said on the
results of negotiations with his Egyptian counterpart.
According to Lavrov, amendments to the U.S. proposal appeared at
the last moment.
"We didn't see the amendments, and that version was issued at the
last moment when it was time to leave Geneva. We said that at first
glance we did not see any significant problems in these amendments,
but the language in which all these ideas must be expressed should
be acceptable to all participants of the process namely P5+1 and
Iran," Lavrov said.
According to the Russian Foreign Minister, the U.S. document and
its amendments remain on the negotiation table.
"We will consider all of this at the political directors' level.
That meeting has been scheduled for November 20," Lavrov said.
