Georgia to monitor state of Ishkhani church in Turkey

A group of Georgian experts will visit Turkey to examine the state of the church in the historical area in the south-eastern part of the Black Sea - Tao Klarjeti - in the territory of Turkey.

The Georgian Culture and Monument Protection Ministry reported that according to the agreement reached as a result of negotiations between Georgian Culture Minister Guram Odisharia and Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Omer Chelik, the Georgian experts will get familiar with the rehabilitation works in the Ishkhani temple on August 27-28.

The Georgian delegation is led by Director General of Georgian National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation Merab Bochoidze. Georgian experts will visit Tao-Klarjeti for the fourth time.

Ishkhani temple, located in the territory of Turkey, is the monument of Georgian architecture and is dated back to IX-X centuries.
