Gold production at Kyrgyz field postponed

Gold production at the Taldy - Bulak Levoberejniy field of Kyrgyzstan will start no later than the first quarter of 2014, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Jantoro Satybaldiyev said.

"The production will start either in the fourth quarter of 2013 or the first quarter of 2014," he said.

He went on to say that the oil refinery in Kara - Balta will be put into operation this year while another oil refinery in Tokmok - in 2014.

Earlier it was planned to start the gold production in the Taldy - Bulak Levoberejniy field in August 2012.

The license for the development of the Taldy - Bulak Levoberejniy field was issued to Altynken LLC on April 4, 2011 by the Kyrgyz government until January 5, 2026. Some 60 percent of stakes of the company belongs to China while 40 percent - to Kyrgyzstan's Kyrgyzaltyn.

The reserves of the field are estimated at 78 tons of gold. Silver and sulphur will be produced in the field as well.
