Iran starts ‘Sustainable Security’ exercises in Caspian Sea
Iran has begun a naval exercise in the Caspian Sea dubbed
"Sustainable Security 2013".
The five-day drill is designed to protect naval routes, provide
security for merchant ships and tankers and prepare military and
port facilities for possible threats, the Fars News Agency
reported.
The drill stretches across the port cities of Astara, Noshahr,
Anzali, and Amir Abad.
The exercise is meant to convey a message of peace and friendship
to other countries and is being carried out in cooperation with the
naval forces of Gilan and Mazandaran provinces.
