Kyrgyz budget to lose $200 mln after Manas transit centre deal is revoked
Kyrgyz budget will lose $200 million after the Manas transit center agreement denunciation, KyrTAG news agency quoted the country's first vice-prime Minister Djoomart Otorbayev as saying.
The denunciation of the agreement will lead to the loss of a significant tax volume.
Manas transit centre pay $60 million to Kyrgyz budget for the lease of the territory annually.
Over 1.000 people work for the centre, nearly 1.000 companies in Kyrgyzstan are connected to Manas.
The agreement on the lease of Manas with the U.S. expires in 2014.
The Transit Centre at the airport, formerly called military base, was opened in late 2001 after the U.S. launched its operation in Afghanistan. At present, it accommodates about 1,200 US soldiers.
According to Pentagon statistics, the base handles up to 15,000 coalition servicemen and 500 tons of cargoes a month.
