Kuwait embassy to open in Kazakhstan this year

It is planned to open the embassy of Kuwait in Kazakhstan by the year end, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, said during a meeting with Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Sarybay, Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry said.

According to the report, Kuwait's minister said its government, taking into account the increasing economic and political potential of Kazakhstan as well as the current level of partnership, plans to open its embassy in Astana by the end of this year. Inauguration will be confined to the first official visit of Foreign Minister Sheikh Al-Sabah to Kazakhstan.

The sides also discussed cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kuwait in various fields, including ways to strengthen bilateral political, economic and cultural relations. They also exchanged views on the situation in the regions of Central Asia and Middle East.

During his visit to Kuwait, Sarybay also held meetings with the co-chair of the Kazakh-Kuwaiti Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation (IPC), the Deputy Minister of Finance of Kuwait H.Hamada and CEO of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) Abdeluahabom Al-Badr. The sides discussed the possibility of raising bilateral cooperation to the next level as well as the agenda for the third meeting of the IGC which will be held in September in Astana.

Special attention was paid to negotiations between the parties on attracting investment and active participation of business circles in Kuwait in the Kazakh market as well as in the preparations for the international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.
