Armenia to continue purchasing gas from Iran, minister says
Armenian Energy Minister Armen Movsisian cited the need for continued cooperation between his country and Iran, IRNA news agency reported.
Movsisian, who also heads the Joint Armenia-Iran Cooperation Commission, told reporters that Armenia will continue purchasing gas from Iran.
"Purchase of gas from Iran takes place in accordance with barter deal on swap of Armenianˈs electricity with Iranˈs gas," Movsisian said.
He noted that Armenia gives its electricity to Iran in lieu of receiving Iranˈs gas.
Armenian energy minister said that Iran-Armenia gas pipeline has great capacities and making full use of the pipeline has been predicted for emergency times.
