Iranian presidential hopeful promises to improve conditions for artists
Independent presidential hopeful Hassan Rohani has highlighted the importance of arts, promising to do his best to improve conditions for artists.
Rohani has described artists as intellectuals, playing an important role in elevating the Iranian society, Entekhab news website reported.
He said arts, cinema and music in particular, are the best tools to promote ethics and human values in the society.
Rohani, who currently sits in the State Expediency Council, also promised to relax the restrictions governing the movie industry, should he be elected the president.
The 11th presidential election in Iran will be held on June 14.
