Population’s confidence in People’s IPO program increases in Kazakhstan

The population's confidence in the People's IPO program increased in Kazakhstan, Deputy Chairman of Kazakh Sovereign Wealth Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" Kuandyk Bishimbayev has said.

"The proportion of respondents positively evaluating the People's IPO program increased from 24 to 36.5 percent, while the percentage of skeptics expressing negative opinion of the People's IPO almost halved, falling from 13.4 to 7.7 percent," Bishimbayev said.

According to Bishimbayev, the number of citizens of Kazakhstan believing that the People's IPO will increase population's incomes from 18 to 26.8 percent, is also growing.

The People's IPO will allow citizens of Kazakhstan to become co-owners of the largest national companies. The program is designed for 2012-2015. KazTransOil, 100 percent owned by state oil and gas company KazMunaiGas, was already included into the program in 2012.

According to Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Kairat Kelimbetov, 34,687 applications for the purchase of 38,463,559 shares have been satisfied by the completion of the sale of stocks of KazTransOil. At the same time, about 80 percent of the offered securities were purchased by individuals. He also said that the price of the stocks of KazTransOil increased during the reporting period by 14 percent.
