Iran and Armenia have set a target of $3 billion for annual bilateral trade, the IRIB quoted the East Azarbaijan Province of Iran's Governor General Ahmad Alirezabeigi as saying, Trend news agency reported.

On December 2, Armenian Ambassador in Tehran, Gregor Araklyan described Tehran-Yerevan ties as positive and said Iran is currently Armenia's 7th biggest trade partner, IRNA news agency reported.

He said the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries in 2011 amounted to $329 million.

He noted that currently, 500 Iranian companies are doing business in Armenia.

Stressing that after gaining independence, his country adopted a policy of free trade and a competitive market, he said that amongst ex-soviet countries, Armenia enjoys the most liberal trade network.

He also said his country is ripe for foreign investments in areas such as water, electricity, gas and mines, adding that Armenia would welcome Iranian experts and investors.
