Norway and the United States have reached an agreement on the sale of American AIM-120 AMRAAM anti-aircraft missiles to Oslo, which can also be used as anti-aircraft missiles for launching from the ground, Azernews reports.
The ministry said that this is one of the largest military
purchases ever carried out for the Norwegian Armed Forces.
"The Norwegian armed forces with a more significant number of new
missiles will be able to better protect the country from air
attacks," Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said in a
statement.
The contract amount is 362 million dollars. Initially, they wanted to put missiles on ground-based air defense systems, but they can also be used as air-to-air weapons. In particular, they can be equipped with F-35 fighter-bombers.
