Iran, Russia to sign deal on energy co-op
TEHRAN - Iran and Russia are expected to sign an agreement on
the drafting of a "road map" for energy cooperation between the two
countries.
Iran’s Fars news agency reports that the deal will be signed during
Oil Minister Masoud Mir-Kazzemi’s visit to Moscow on Wednesday.
Mir-Kazzemi's visit will take place at the invitation of Russian
Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko.
The minister will meet with Russian officials to mull bilateral
ties and energy cooperation. He is also scheduled to meet with
Russia's Central Bank governor.
"During the visit, Mir-Kazzemi and Shmatko will endorse a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the roadmap of cooperation in
the energy sector," Iranian Ambassador to Russia Seyed Mahmoud Reza
Sajjadi was quoted by FNA as saying on Monday.
In April 2010, Iranian and Russian officials signed a trade
agreement to expand economic cooperation between the two
countries.
The Iran-Russia trade turnover is estimated at $3.7bn.
