U.S. to buy supplies from S Caucasus states for Afghanistan projects
The Defense Logistics Agency of the US Department of Defense will
purchase construction materials from the Central Asian and South
Caucasus countries for its projects in Afghanistan.
According to media reports, the materials will be delivered from countries facilitating the delivery of U.S. and NATO cargo to the post-war country.
Washington believes making such purchases from the regional states is economically viable due to short timeframes of deliveries and low transportation costs.
The U.S. also plans to begin importing food from the regional countries soon to meet the basic needs of its troops in Afghanistan.*
