Turkish parliament speaker’s solution to Istanbul’s biggest problem

The biggest problem in Istanbul is currently linked to passenger traffic, particularly - high density of traffic, said Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Binali Yildirim, Trend reports referring to the Turkish media.

Yildirim stated that he will be able to solve this issue if he gets elected head of the Istanbul municipality on March 31 during the municipal elections, noting his extensive experience in this field.

Yildirim will resign on February 18 of this year, in connection with the official nomination of his candidacy for the post of head of the Istanbul municipality.

The municipal elections in Turkey will be held March 31, 2019. They are held every five years.

The candidacy of the former Minister of the Environment and Urbanization of Turkey, Mehmet Ozhaseki, has been nominated for the post of head of the Ankara municipality.
