Private investment’s share in Astana reaches 90 percent

About 1 trillion tenge of investments was attracted to the Astana's economy, reports Kazinform with reference to the official website of the capital akimat.

Mayor of Astana, Bakhyt Sultanov said that previously, almost more than half of the attracted investments in the city came from the state budget (in 2009, about 53 percent), now the share of budget investments has decreased to 10 percent.

”Thus, today 90 percent of the city’s investments form private initiatives, while the main investor of the city is a small business,” said Sultanov.

Astana, he continued, is becoming more attractive to foreign investors.

“We have become more attractive for foreign capital. A quarter of the total investment accounted for foreign investment in 2018,” the mayor concluded.

The main directions, taking into account the existing growth reserves, as well as the goals and objectives designated by the Head of State in the capital, have been developed and approved the City Development Program for 2016-2020.

The key focus of the program is the transformation of the urban environment and the transformation of the capital into a business, scientific, cultural and tourist center of Eurasia, which was determined as part of the 69th step of the institutional reforms being carried out.

In accordance with the Astana City Development Program for 2016–2020, the economy of Astana will grow 1.3 times by 2020 compared to the level of 2015 with an average annual growth rate of 5 percent. In this case, the nominal amount of GRP will exceed 8 trillion tenge The total amount of attracted investments will be more than 5 trillion tenge.

Due to the implementation of the Nurly Zhol State Program of Infrastructure Development for 2015-2019, the foundation of the future transport hub will be laid in Astana.

The creation of the international financial center Astana on the basis of the infrastructure of EXPO-2017 with giving it a special status will provide a new impetus to the business potential growth of the capital with a direct positive effect of about 150 billion tenge in the growth of GRP annually.

During the years of the formation of Astana, more than 150 large social facilities were built in the city, including the international level. In specialized centers of the medical cluster of the capital, not only people from all over Kazakhstan, but also from foreign countries, improve their health. Leading universities of the capital won international prestige.

The developed set of priority measures for the development of the capital as the core of the Astana agglomeration will be implemented until 2020.
