Turkish province bans use of UAVs by civilians

By Trend

Turkey’s Agry province has banned the use of unmanned flying devices by civilians near residential houses, military facilities, schools, and state institutions, Trend reports referring to the province’s municipality’s website.

The ban for the use of UAVs by civilians has been introduced for the reasons of security.

Earlier, police operation against members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) exposed UAVs that had been designated for surveillance reasons.

“Some of the UAVs were equipped with explosives,” the municipality's message said.

The conflict between Turkey and PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
