``Armenian genocide`` promoted in Russian schools
False historical information on the alleged genocide
of Armenians has been included in a textbook to be used in Russia`s
schools.
In the ``World Religion`` book covering religions and their history, designated by the country`s education ministry for 10th and 11th graders, the history of the entire Turkic world was apparently distorted.
It is noteworthy that the editor and one of the main authors of the seven-chapter book is an ethnic Armenian, which sheds the light on how the World War I-era developments in the Ottoman Empire, which have no bearing on religion, were included in its contents.
Moreover, the Islamic faith is insulted in the book. Thus, the holy Koran is described in it as ``verbiage`` as an illogical ``book of tales.``
Historians are worried most about the fact that the textbook has been approved for use in Russia`s schools this year.
