Supervisor of Iran's Islamic Azad University (IAU) highlighted the importance of establishing a research institute to study Iran-China relations in line with the will of the both nations to embark on new joint scientific ventures, IRNA reports.
Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi made the remarks in a meeting with Wang
Jisi President of the Institute of International and Strategic
Studies at Peking University and his accompanying delegation in the
Iranian capital on Sunday evening.
Tehranchi expressed hope that through establishment of such a
research institute, both countries would be able to better
contribute to science advancement.
He referred to the economic, technological, and scientific
relations between Iran and China in recent years, saying,
inter-university relations could not be enhanced unless an
intelligent institute consisting of scholars and experts from both
countries manage such relations.
Tehranchi said engineer exchange programs as a consequence of
establishing such an institute.
The IAU supervisor referred to Iran’s scientific progress after
1979 Islamic Revolution, adding, Iran’s scientific ranking has
improved from 53 in 1996 to 16 in 2016, indicating a whopping
improvement.
He added that countries with high scientific potentials can
consider Shanghai Cooperation Organization in security fields or
BRICS agreement as a role model to develop a cooperation treaty in
scientific fields.
