Gazprom, Uzbekneftegaz extend PSA on development of Shahpakhty field

Russian company Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz signed an additional agreement No. 2 to the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) on the development of the Shakhpakhty field.

The document provides for the continuation of gas production until 2024, according to the press service of the Russian company. Shakhpakhty is a gas condensate field discovered in 1962 in the southeastern part of the Ustyurt plateau in Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - 2018, a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom, and Alisher Sultanov, the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzbekneftegaz was held.

The parties noted the positive dynamics of development of cooperation in the gas sector. They discussed the current status of joint work and further plans in the field of geological exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the territory of Uzbekistan.

In this regard, in particular, the additional agreement No. 2 to the PSA on the development of the Shakhpakhty field was discussed.

During the meeting, attention was also paid to the topics of cooperation in the development of Uzbekistan's gas transportation infrastructure, underground gas storage in the country, scientific and technical cooperation, as well as training and retraining of personnel.

In 2017, the volume of purchase of natural gas in Uzbekistan by Gazprom amounted to 5.5 billion cubic meters.

The main partner of Gazprom in Uzbekistan is Uzbekneftegaz, which is engaged in the exploration, production, processing, transportation, storage and sale of oil and gas.

In 2006, Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz signed an agreement on the basic principles of geological exploration of the subsoil of investment blocks in the Ustyurt region. In 2017, an Agreement on Strategic Cooperation was signed between Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz.
