PM: Turkey to take measures to prevent growth of US dollar exchange rate

The Turkish government and the country’s Central Bank will take measures to prevent the growth of the dollar exchange rate, the Turkish media quoted the country’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim as saying May 24.

Yildirim added that the growth of the US dollar exchange rate against the Turkish lira is a temporary phenomenon of speculative nature.

He added that in the coming days the dollar exchange rate in Turkey will go down.

Meanwhile, the official exchange rate for May 23 is 4.8551 TRY / USD, while at the beginning of the month $1 - 4.1344 Turkish lira.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Head of the country’s Central Bank Murat Cetinkaya on May 16.
