By Kamila Aliyeva
Uzbekistan introduced changes into the norms of duty-free import and export of goods.
The maximum limits for imported goods are set for air, railway and river, as well as bus services.
New norms of duty-free importation and exportation are established for individuals, that is ordinary citizens, who are not representing any organization. The corresponding decision was signed by the President of Uzbekistan on February 6.
Without any customs duties, citizens can import goods into the country costing up to $2,000 if the border is crossed through the international airports of Uzbekistan; costing up to $1,000 if the border is crossed on the railway or river transport; costing up to $300 if the border is crossed through road checkpoints.
The document also stipulates a monthly limit on the value of goods coming in parcels. Monthly citizens (individuals) can order goods from foreign online stores, the aggregate value of which does not exceed $1,000.
In addition to the limit on the total cost, restrictions are also set on the number of items of certain goods.
Thus, without paying customs duties, no more than 2 liters of alcoholic products, no more than ten packs of tobacco products, no more than 3 units of perfume and no more than 65 grams of precious stones and metals can be imported into Uzbekistan.
According to the document, the maximum rate of export of goods from Uzbekistan without a customs declaration is $3,000. Some types of exported goods also have limitations on quantity.
The document also stipulates that individuals will not be able to take more than 3 kg of rice, 5 kg of bakery products, 2 kg of meat and meat products, 2 kg of sugar, 2 kg of vegetable oils, 40 kg of fresh fruit and vegetables, fruits, dried fruits and melons.
It should also be noted that if the specified standards of import and export are observed, then declaration is not necessary. The exception is international postal and courier shipments.
