Further economic development of the CIS countries and increase of competitiveness in the world arena will largely depend on the effective formation and development of the digital economy.

This was stated by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, at the forum entitled “Digital agenda in the era of globalization” in Almaty, Central Asian media outlets reported.

The digital economy in various countries will develop in different ways and rates, this is a natural process, according to prime minister.

At the same time, it is possible to single out common features for all models of the development of the digital economy. These are the presence of favorable conditions for the development of innovation and the existing amount of investment.

He noted that the President of Uzbekistan declared 2018 as the year of support of active entrepreneurship, innovative ideas and technologies, and a special state program was adopted.

Uzbekistan entered the stage of digital transformation - an innovative center was created, e-government is developing, citizens are provided with a lot of interactive services through a single portal of state services.

“We consider it necessary to create a joint platform for an integration partnership between traditional financial institutions and innovative companies in the field of financial technologies. Such cooperation will help to organize joint implementation of digital innovative products in the financial markets of our countries, as well as to develop effective solutions for the use of such technologies as blockchain, open data and others,” Aripov said.

He also noted that the issues of information security and data protection are relevant for all CIS countries and Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate in developing joint measures.

The main objective of the forum is to work out joint measures that will accelerate the development of digital economies, increasing their competitiveness, and also on the basis of country advantages and regional integration transformation, to work out ways for the subsequent receipt of dividends.

Heads of governments of the CIS countries, leading international ICT experts, heads of state bodies of Kazakhstan and CIS countries, representatives of domestic and foreign corporations, business communities and more than 150 representatives of Kazakh and foreign media are taking part in the forum.

The thematic sessions of the event will discuss issues of innovative and technological entrepreneurship, as well as the digitization of industry.
