So far 20 million vote in Iran’s presidential election

The official Iran Newspaper has reported that 20 million voters by 16:00 local time (GMT+4:30) participated in the ongoing presidential election.

The newspaper through its official social media accounts has reported that 20 billion ballot papers have been used since 08:00 in the morning when the polling stations across the country opened.

Polling for the 12th presidential election, in which incumbent President Hassan Rouhani is seeking reelection, kicked off at about 63,500 polling stations this morning.

Incumbent President Hassan Rouhani, Custodian of Imam Reza (AS) Holy shrine Ebrahim Raeisi, former minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mostafa Aqa Mirsalim and former Minister of Physical Education Mostafa Hashemi Taba are four candidates participating in the elections.

More than 56 million are eligible to vote in this election which is the first since the country reached a landmark nuclear deal with the world in 2015.
