Kazakh oil to flow via BTC in weeks
Transporting Kazakh oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main oil
export pipeline, which pumps Azerbaijan`s crude to Turkey through
Georgia, will begin by the end of October.
Crude from the Central Asian state will be first delivered to Azerbaijan by sea and further pumped into the conduit, the pipeline operator, BP Azerbaijan, has confirmed.
The pipeline will export oil produced at Kazakhstan`s giant Tengiz field. In mid-November, loading Kazakh crude onto tankers will begin at the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan, after which it will be delivered to world markets.
The annual bulk of Kazakhstan`s oil flowing via BTC will be increased from the initially planned 2 million tons to 5 million tons.
