Short break expected in BTC oil flow
Transporting oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export
pipeline will be interrupted in late September for two to three
days.
During the planned suspension, minor repair work and check-ups will be carried out, the pipeline consortium BTC Co. said.
The company has informed Azerbaijan`s state oil company SOCAR of the measure. SOCAR said the interruption will not cause a reduction in output from Azerbaijan`s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields in the Caspian Sea.
The BTC pipeline opened in mid-2006. The conduit, which lies through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, pumps oil produced from the ACG fields to the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan. The exports are carried out under the deal Azerbaijan signed in 1994 with major oil companies of the world called the Contract of the Century to tap its vast energy fields.
