Wood Group Kenny (WGK) will provide engineering and project management services for the Subsea Execute phase of the second stage of development of Azerbaijan's giant Shah Deniz field.

The news was announced by the WGK Company on June 3.

The company has been awarded a £36 million call-off contract for 2014 with BP Azerbaijan under the 2007 Global Agreement.

The award of this contract is an addition to the subsea engineering work currently carried out under the BP Global Agreement, which covers engineering and project management services in the North Sea, Angola and Gulf of Mexico.

Wood Group is an international energy services company with over $7 billion sales. The Group has two reporting segments - Wood Group Engineering and Wood Group PSN - providing a range of engineering, production support and turbine services to the oil & gas, and power sectors.

Wood Group Kenny is the world's largest independent subsea specialist, pipeline and riser engineering and management contractor, part of international energy services company, Wood Group.

WGK has worked with BP on the Shah Deniz field development project since 2008 to provide engineering support through the Appraise, Select and Define phases of this major project.

The Shah Deniz field, one of the world's largest gas-condensate fields, was discovered in 1999. Its reserves are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas. Overall, the field has proven to be a secure and reliable supplier of gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and Europe.

The gas which will be produced at the second stage of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field development will be the main source of the Southern Gas Corridor, which envisages the transportation of the Caspian gas to European markets.
