Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR has conducted ecological monitoring at the March 8 and Sangachal-Duvanni-Khara-Zira fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

The news was announced by SOCAR on May 1.

During the monitoring conducted in April, the samples were taken from water, sediment and benthos from the fields under the management of the Nariman Narimanov Oil and Gas Recovery Management.

The collected samples were sent to the complex researches laboratory of SOCAR Ecology Department.

SOCAR will prepare a monitoring report on environmental condition after the researches are completed.

The monitoring will be continued in other fields as well.

The Ecological Monitoring Department of Ecology Office of SOCAR conducts ecological monitoring at SOCAR's oil and gas fields in the Azerbaijani Sector of the Caspian Sea two times a year in spring-summer and fall-winter seasons.

Azerbaijan's energy giant SOCAR, which is keen on expanding operations in the retail oil products market abroad, is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in the domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.
