AI-98 gasoline price decreases
By Aynur Jafarova
The cost of the AI-98 gasoline decreased from 1.5 to 1.03 manat in Azerbaijan's gasoline filling stations, Trend Agency reported on April 2.
The prices on other brands of gasoline remain unchanged.
The price of oil products in Azerbaijan is fixed and determined by the Tariff Council, which increased gasoline retail price by about 30 percent in December 2013.
The last changes in fuel prices in Azerbaijan happened in 2007.
The retail price for every liter of AI-95 gasoline is currently set at 0.8 manat, and the retail price for AI-92 and AI-80 gasoline is 0.7 manat per liter.
No change to gasoline's retail price regulated domestically
The Tariff Council said it has not made any changes to the gasoline's retail price regulated domestically.
Under the decision of Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers issued in March 2014, the imported AI-95 and higher brand gasoline that meet the environmental standards of Euro-5, are not included in the list of the goods regulated by the state.
The Cabinet of Ministers reduced the customs duties and excise rates for importing this gasoline at lower prices.
This makes it possible to import Premium Euro-95 and Super Euro-98 gasoline at low prices and sell them at free market prices.
The rate of excise duty on motor gasoline with not more than a 95 octane rating (containing lead both below and above 0,013 grams per liter) is set at $1 per ton of fuel.
The rate of this type of fuel is valid from February 7 to June 1 this year.
Excise duty on imported gasoline with an octane rating higher than 95, but not more than 98 (containing lead both below and above 0,013 grams per liter), is set at $100 per ton.
The rate of excise duty on the imports of motor gasoline with a 98 octane rating or higher (regardless of the contained lead) will be $150 per ton.
The rate of this type of fuel is valid from February 1.
These changes do not apply to imports of jet fuel. Under another decision by the Cabinet of Ministers, the import of these fuels was exempted from customs duties
