SOCAR to build new platform in Caspian
Azerbaijan's state energy company is to design a new fixed offshore platform for the Darwin Bank field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
Operations are being conducted by SOCAR's design institute. The new platform is designed for drilling 10 wells and will be placed at a depth of 9-9.5 metres, the company reported.
The daily debit of each well will hit 50 tons of oil. A new platform consisting of eight units, will be equipped with the most modern drilling equipment, according to the forecasts.
Earlier, SOCAR prepared a programme to stabilise and increase the production volumes in the fields developed by the company for 2013-2015.
SOCAR produced more than 8.31 million tons of oil in 2013 from onshore and offshore fields in the country compared to 8.24 million tons in 2012.
Some 43.48 million tons of oil was produced in Azerbaijan in 2013 compared to 43 million tons in 2012, SOCAR said.
