Batumi port's oil terminal intends to increase oil transshipment up to 5.215 million tons this year compared to 5.190 million tons last year, CEO of Batumi Industrial Holdings Ltd. Talgat Baytaziev told Trend news agency.

According to the CEO, the terminal is now able to transship 22 types of oil and petroleum products, which is its main competitive advantage before other Black Sea terminals.

"The proportions of distribution of the volumes of Kazakh oil between terminals of Kulevi and Batumi ports is approximately 70 percent and 30 percent," Baytaziev said.

Baytaziev said that at present the Batumi Oil Terminal is actively studying the issue of oil supply from the Kashagan field.

"We expect that part of the oil will be transshipped through Batumi. In 2012, two tanks with volume of 20,000 cubic meters each were built. There is project for the gradual renewal of the tank farm by building new tanks and decommissioning of obsolete tanks," Baytaziev said.
