Approximately 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas will be exported to Georgia from Azerbaijan by the end of this year, according to preliminary data, a source in the oil and gas market told Trend news agency on Wednesday.

According to the source, out of the total volume of gas that is to be delivered to Georgia, 960 million cubic meters of it will be exported by Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR.

"The remaining 700 million cubic meters of gas are to be exported from the Azerbaijani offshore gas condensate field Shah Deniz," the source said.

SOCAR supplies its own gas to Georgian customers via a pipeline linking the two countries in the Gazakh region of Azerbaijan. This pipeline's capacity is about three billion cubic meters of gas per year.

Through SOCAR Georgia Gas, the company manages gas distribution networks covering different regions of Georgia.
