Hidden pipes running from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan revealed
Some hidden pipelines running from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan have been found, Kyrtag news agency reported Tuesday with reference to the Kyrgyz government's body in charge of combating economic crimes.
"The staff of the Civil Service for Combating Economic Crimes under the Kyrgyz Government prevented the smuggle of fuel from Kazakhstan to the Kyrgyz Republic, which was carried out through hidden pipelines running across the Chu river," it said.
A large amount of fuel and lubricants was pumped earlier through these pipelines without customs clearance and payment of taxes.
Late on September 27, a car carrying a fuel tank without proper
documents was detained. According to its driver, the fuel was
pumped from a rubber pipe laid under the Chu river. The total
length of the pipe was 130 meters. Diesel fuel was poured into the
pipe in the Kordai region of Kazakhstan.
